About
COUNCIL 4593
Men of faith. Protectors of families.
Servants to others.
Who We Are
Carmel Mission Council 4593 of the Knights of Columbus is a brotherhood of Catholic men united in faith, service, and community. Inspired by our Founding father – Fr. Michael J McGivney – founded in New Haven Connecticut and the spirit of Carmel Mission, we are committed to serving God by serving others—strengthening our parish, supporting our neighbors, and growing together as men devoted to faith, family, and purpose. Through our shared mission, we strive to make a meaningful difference by living out the core principles that define who we are.
Charity calls us to love our neighbor as ourselves, giving generously of our time, talents, and resources to those in need.
Unity reminds us that together we can accomplish far more than we could alone, strengthening both our faith and our ability to serve.
Fraternity binds us as a brotherhood, supporting one another, our families, and our parish community in times of both joy and challenge.
Patriotism inspires us to honor our Catholic faith and our country through responsible citizenship and dedicated service.
Together, we seek to embody these values in all we do, building a stronger parish, a more compassionate community, and a deeper commitment to our faith.
OUR HERITAGE
History of Our Council
Founded in 1940, the Knights of Columbus Carmel Mission Council 4593 has been a steadfast part of the faith and community life at Mission San Carlos Borromeo del Río Carmelo. Known as the Billie Burke Council, our members have carried forward the Knights’ principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism for more than eight decades.
Established by local Catholic men dedicated to service and brotherhood, Council 4593 grew alongside the Carmel Mission parish, supporting both its spiritual mission and its many outreach efforts. Over the years, the council has sponsored parish events, funded community initiatives, and provided hands-on help wherever it was needed—from youth programs and scholarships to care for the elderly and the poor.
Today, the Knights of Columbus at the Carmel Mission remain true to our founding vision: to serve God, strengthen our parish, and support one another as Catholic men of faith and action.
We continue to assist with parish ministries, host fundraising events, and contribute to charitable causes throughout the Monterey Peninsula. Through our associated nonprofit, The Foundation of the Knights of Carmel Mission, we extend this mission even further—offering a lasting way to support the Carmel Mission and those in need.
